Mothers in South Africa are more likely to die while giving birth and during pregnancy than most countries on the continent.
Statistics revealed that one out of every 322 women did not survive pregnancy or childbirth.
Gauteng had the second highest maternal mortality with 880 deaths of women over a three year period. Johannesburg and Tshwane municipalities accounted for almost half of these deaths at a total of 430 mothers dying giving birth...read the full article
