South Africa's fight against the Aids epidemic seems to be a case of one step forward and two steps backward.
We have the unenviable record of 5.6 million people living with HIV and Aids in South Africa, the highest of any country in the world. In 2009, 310 000 South Africans died of Aids or related causes, according to the website of non-governmental organisations, Avert.
