The Eloquent teenager speaks confidently about her circumstances but one can't help noticing hat her hand's keep covering her tummy as if to protect the source of her predicament. Kliptown High School matriculant lerato Moagi (19)* expects to give birth to her first child in two months' time but the baby growing inside her is the least of her worries.
Just before the start of the mid-year examinations, Lerato's school in Eldorado Park on the outskirts of Soweto found out she was pregnant and expelled her. Inexplicably, considering she's not the only learner pregnant at her school, she is the only one to suffer this fate. To further compound her problems, she was not allowed to write her mid-year exams. Now Lerato has to study at home while her pregnant peers are still at school and were allowed to write the exams.
