Life Beats workshop
24 August 2012
Writing about HIV has enabled journalists to ask pertinent questions about political leadership, service delivery and human rights. But HIV is a story of the human spirit—one that is often told through the performing arts. Journalists who write about these creastive processes cover an entirely different side of the epidemic.
Drama For Life in association with the HIV & AIDS Media Project present an intimate two day workshop that explores this intersection between the arts, journalism and HIV. Hosted in conjunction with the annual Drama For Life festival—an impressive arts events which speaks directly to the HIV epidemic—Life Beats looks at HIV both as news and human drama.
With contributions from performing artists and medical professionals, this interactive workshop promises to demystify both HIV reporting and arts journalism as it lays bear the mechanics of the epidemic and explores the dynamics of performance.
